Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation

I will always love a perfect foundation, you know the kind that gives your face this clean and flawless look...which for me is something I try to achieve everytime I wear makeup....Because of my love for perfect foundation I felt the urge to boast about my newest find!

 I've been trying Rimmel London's Match Perfection foundation for a few days now, and which if you could actually take a peek of my makeup collection, hasn't really been a brand I'd go out of my way to purchase (Well, except for Vintage Pink lipstick, lol). A few years ago I bought a Rimmel eyeshadow which caused my eyes to have an allergic reaction (my eyes puffed up), but besides that I just ceased buying any of their products in fear I could be allergic to some ingredients. Putting my worries aside I decided to try out Match Perfection. It must be said, and I think Rimmel would agree, that some of the foundations in their line lack color selection, but Match Perfection blew all other convictions away. I chose my color and the rest is history.

I wanted to start out writing about this foundation by listing all the good things about it....Where do I start?

-Priced perfectly. I've seen Perfect Match retail from $6 to $7.99. I paid $4 for mine since it went on sale for $6 (using a CVS Extra Care card) and I had a $2 (CVS coupon) off coupon for use with any beauty item. I bought the 'nude' color since 'warm sand' was a bit too dark.

-Coverage. I'm just snowballing here but think if a Revlon Colorstay and MAC Studio Fix came together in union....Match Perfection is what would result. It covers like a dream and is blendable, and if I may say blends much easier than Colorstay but is not 'medium to buildable' like the Studio Fix....

-SPF. Sun Protection for the face is super important.

-Keeps face hydrated. I'm a combo skinned girl, some 'hydrating' foundations don't work very well for me but I have to say that this one is different. It keeps my skin hydrated, moist, and supple but at the same time reduces some of my T-zone oil....hard to explain in detail.

-Little goes a long way. The thickness and blendability of Match Perfection deems it necessary to apply very little and get maximum coverage. This is outstanding in capacity. The bottle contains 1 fl ounce.

My Experience wearing it all day:
Once applied it stayed on very well and feels comfortable. It leaves a moisturizing effect on the skin. My skin felt hydrated all day, if I may say it felt more on the sticky side. I was afraid to apply finishing powder on top of the foundation because I felt it may feel too cakey, so I refused to apply powder afterwards. The many times I wore the foundation the color lasted 8 + hours, which is very good. I've only had to re-apply around my lips area after wiping my mouth during lunch, but other than that it stays on very well. I did have some concern about transferring which seems to occur after hour 5. Very little oil was visible on my T-zone area, that was without blotting and without setting powder. I feel the foundation on my skin just a little bit which may give an inkling that it could feel a little heavy, but I am not bothered by it.

What is Smart Tone Technology?
Rimmel London Perfect Match, as stated in Rimmel's website, is supposed to mimic skin tone. Blue Sapphire complex pigments offer radiance for a fresher colour. Gimmicky it may sound but as far as this 'skin mimic' claim goes, I wouldn't be able to completely agree nor disagree since 'Nude' seems to be my perfect skin color match. Not knowing 100 percent if it is the color or the 'skin mimic' aspect I guess is something I may never know. I did end up buying a shade darker (Warm Sand) for summertime use.

PROS-

Good Price for a comfortable med to full and buildable coverage foundation, Good shade/color selection, Good for dry skin types, Contains SPF, Drugstore foundation, Lasting quality, Blendability, Packaging

CONS-

Scent (soft floral scent) could be overpowering to some, May feel too hydrating or sticky sometimes

ELF Little Black Beautybooks - Cool collection

To take in your purse, on the go, or to grab quickly when you don't want to rummage thru your makeup stash to complete a look....I was so thrilled to find ELF's newest BeautyBooks/palettes ($5) and these cute 'little black beautybook' palettes ($5) in Target stores.

It was the email that ELF sent that had me searching for these bargain gems.

Unfortunately the newest Beauty Books (pic above) were a little damaged, each one :( so sad, so I'll be doing some driving around to find them this weekend!

So top picture is of the 'Little Black Beautybook' which flips open and consists of 28 shadows and 20 lip colors, 1 mirror and a dual applicator. I selected the cool collection as it had more colors suitable for the spring and summer time. The other available LBBB, the warm collection, would best be suited for the fall and winter time. All shadows are made splendid, each one staying true to color, doesn't fade, and is good in pigmentation.

Quality of lip colors are amazing with a wide range of consistency and finishes to name a few; shimmery, creme, sheer, and high-gloss.

We love Hello Kitty....and shopping!

I made the choice to collect Hello Kitty memorabilia for my little one....Last week I started with her 1 year birthday party. Let me just say that I am one very tired momma! One Hello Kitty themed party for my baby, a b-day dinner for my husband and in between all that managed to do a little shopping :)

I hope everyone is enjoying this springtime....I thought I'd share some pics taken from baby's party....

I've always kinda been the crafty one, so I made these candle holders for the party after a friend of mine designed some last Thanksgiving...Loved the way they came out!

Her birthday outfit consisted of a personalized embroidered onesie and matching bloomers. I ended up buying her the tutu after I had seen them on Etsy...It is so cute! We are taking her to the studio this weekend to take her official 1 year old pics and she will be wearing this outfit :)

And of course the cake, which had to be done in Hello Kitty, which was also the theme of the party :)

During my 'skincare' kick (which I am still on!) I did a little makeup shopping....I received a tiny sample of Sephora's Plumping lash mascara and after using it a few days I absolutely loved it so I ended up buying the full-size version. At my most recent trip to the CCO I picked up Clinique's glossy mascara....I love the brush on this mascara! And I also wanted to try out NYC's new line of mascara.........this one is the high-definition/volumizing one.

Another trip to Dollar Tree! And I just wanted to mention that Dollar Tree now has ELF's Studio line single eyeshadows!

They have a variety of about 7 colors to choose from, I know these are regularly $3 each so for only $1 these are a steal, especially if you are one that loves these!

Ok, so back to the haulage. I picked up some of Maybelline's Wet shine and Revitalizing polishes. Loreal Hip lip glosses are available at Dollar Tree too....I picked up Enticing-which is a rich true red. They had some other nice colors but were too close or matched some colors I already own.

Wet n Wild spring collection of polishes came out so I picked up 2 out of the 6 they had. I got Laughing Lilac and Birdbath. The Laughing Lilac is actually a very nice color. I wouldn't call it a dupe for MAC's Love and Friendship or Essie's Lilacism....this color doesn't even come close....It is beautiful and probably one of the most nicest lilac pink colors I have seen. The Birdbath polish doesn't come close at all to China Glaze's For Audrey. Birdbath is a very nice bright sky blue creme.

If you visit me at my home you'd be curious to know why I own every season DVD set of the show Everybody Loves Raymond....Only one reason I collect them is because I really adore the show! So naturally it's expected that I pick up Wet N Wild's newest red polish in the fast dry line called Everybody Loves Redmond. So the name is a bit cheesy but I couldn't help it :) Once in a good while my local grocery store puts out coupons for makeup so I picked up Wet n Wild lipstick in Stoplight Red and my favorite Rimmel lippie in Vintage Pink. I was hesitant to order ELF online but quickly emptied my shopping cart when I noticed Target had the items I was looking for! I picked up the blush Fuchsia Fusion which I have been wearing almost everyday. Went to Sally's to get some nail files and got a lipgloss and some other things. The Purple Rite lipstick I picked up from the CCO.

On a trip to CVS I picked up Sally Hansen's polish in Night Flight and a Covergirl Liquiline Blast eyeliner in black. I got a backup of my favorite LA Colors eyeshadow palette in Traditional from Dollar Tree and a cute doggie pencil sharpener and Hello Kitty body glitter came from my local grocery store. On the same trip to Sephora I picked up Sephora's blending eye brush in #29.

I've been getting into colored eye contacts most recently, I know....what's up with that? I just find them so pretty, especially with smoky eyes and different colors of eyeshadows that bring out the eye color....but anywho, while I was buying contacts I picked up some eyelashes!

And here is what I picked up from Sally's. I needed a 4 way nail file block and some nail files and I picked up Pucker Ups lip balm in Coconut which happens to smell exactly like a Coconut snowcone! yummmmmmm

I also got a Skin Renewal Toner which is now my holy grail of skin toners and will do a review on it very soon....loooooove it!

Blush and Bronzer had a...uh...little accident

This is what happens when you are not too careful with your most favorite compacts or powders! Ok, so there is good news and bad news to this makeup violation: The good news is that I have about 5 backups of the blush (on the right), the bad news is that my most favorite bronzer ever (on the left) is by Tropez, which to my knowledge is discontinued

Since this has happened I'm very careful as to not move it around so much, in fear that I may lose pieces. I still use it but I dip my brush in it very carefully

I can't look at it anymore, it's just so sad looking! LOL

LA Colors Eyeshadows

Using only my LA Colors eyeshadow palettes from Dollar Tree I decided to create something a little dramatic. This was an interesting experience in that I was not sure how well the shadows would work....Let me explain, I have used only 1 or 2 colors by themselves in the past but since I was incorporating a few colors for this look, I had a few doubts (like pigmentation, blending)....

My feelings were wrong, these shadows are really nice....together! I guess with a little imagination and patience (some shadows are hard to work with!) you can create something nice....

To start off, I contoured the eyes with a satiny soft light brown color found on the LA Colors 'Traditional' palette. I then covered the entire lid with a soft purple shade from the 'Chic' palette. I'm not sure why I chose this color, at the time I thought it would stand out but as you can see from the picture the color soon faded. For the crease and outer 'V' I applied a shimmery chocolate color from the 'Darling' palette....

For more depth and to increase the 'smoky' of the look, LA Colors mineral e/s in black was added to the outer 'V' and crease blending just slightly in.

For highlight, I just used the lightest white pearl color from the Traditional palette, but honestly any light color from any of the palettes will suffice as a highlight color.

For a pop of color I added a magenta maroonish color from 'Fabulous' on the lower lashline

My favorite product out of any of the LA Colors line from Dollar Tree happens to be the nail polishes and lipsticks... And if I could pick one more favorite it would be the 'Traditional' e/s palette. What are your favorite Dollar Tree makeup products?

May Haul Part 2

The month pretty much went by super fast! I’m counting down the days left for school and I’m eager to get the summer started! First up: I had the pleasure of sampling Bath and Body's new summer Vanillas scent Lemon....I fell hard for this scent, it is sweet and tart and smells delish, just like a lemon merengue pie :) I bought the lotion only and then went back for a backup lotion and the spray.

I wanted to split up this haul because I've been waiting eagerly for my MAC 'To the Beach' order to arrive, so instead of just showing you what I got from MAC on a separate post I'd thought I'd save half of my haul to show you along with the MAC order, when it finally does come...That's basically the driving force that is keeping me from just dashing right over to my nearest MAC store and purchasing all of the collection! knowing how pretty it is...lol...so part 2 of this haul is coming up pretty soon in a day or two...

The 2 Sally Hansen HD polishes I bought from Walgreens ‘DVD' and 'Spectrum' ....pretty cool colors, I would describe them as ultra shimmery but not glittery, I first called them a Dazzleglass polish because it is what would result if a MAC dazzleglass and nail polish got together, lol :D

The Aero makeup bags were on clearance for $4, SH Jumping Jade nail polish was from Target and I picked up a few Sinful 'pinks' from Walgreens: (left to right) Beautiful Girl, Cream Pink, and Pink.

I was organizing my drawer with alot of drugstore lippies and came across 2 CG Wetslicks glosses I forgot I bought back in April. I got Candy and Tutu. On that same day I got the CG eyeshadow trio.

The Profusion palette I was telling you about a few days ago has been winning over my heart. I just love the formula of all the shadows, most are shimmers but are lovely

I hauled these Sally Hansen Moist and Matte lip colors from the Dollar Tree because of a haul video I saw by Elena or FUNKYEYESHADOW. Let me tell you, if you can get your hands on these please try, for a dollar you won't be disappointed...These are the bomb! haha - oldschool words, but yeah! :D I got Linen, Satine, and Chiffon.

Last by not least I was looking for a great neutral palette for everyday and came across Shady Lady, which is sold at Sephora. I went over to see if I could find it in the store but they didn't have it so I opted to buy it from TheBalm.... Shipping was free and they sent me a sample as well. I love the colors! I'm excited about this palette :)

Oh yeah, my new nail polish project still a work in progress but I will show it to you once it is finished!
