Halloween Costume Makeup and Running to catch those $2 Kylie Lip Kits!

This past Halloween was definitely one of my favorites in the Makeup department.....😱 My kids have a diverse imagination as you can see 😉

She wanted the Dead-bride-turns zombie look!

I added texture latex for the peeling dead skin. I think it looked spot on. 😄I used acrylic paint on her dress to ensure anything she touches doesn't stain in red. Who wants red all over the place? Not me.

I used dark red lipsticks and lipstick pencils for the blood details on her face.

She was incredibly happy with the result. The downside is that we had a really hard time removing the latex from her face so I probably won't ever use it again! I wonder what other type of material I could use for this texture? I'm kind of new to this!

Okay, so coming very soon is a review of the Wet n Wild Photo Focus 👆, liquid foundation! I can't believe I waited this long to touch on this but I must share my thoughts!

Insane Sale on Kylie Matte Lip kits!

I always make it a point to visit my local Dollar Mart because the items they have are always evolving.

One day it's Covergirl...next week after that Target closed out jewelry, sometimes even the pricey items like JLo or Jessica Simpson earrings and necklaces show up. One trip isn't the same. I have bought items there before to never see them sold there again. And it isn't just makeup and jewelry....they sell closed out items such as toys, party supplies, dishes, picture frames, bras and panties, leggings, scarfs, yarn, hair accessories, just to name a few. The store almost always prices everything right, so for something that probably used to cost $28, such as a pair of JLo earrings, you can grab them for $2.50. Or the Target closed out earrings probably once sold in the Target store for $12, are now $1.99. The deals are crazy. I'm a huge fan of the store. Not everything is name brand, you find items that are cheap or one of a kind. Sort of like being in a flea market but one you can go to everyday.

Kylie Lip kits were just chilling on the makeup section of the store. At first I wasn't too sure what was inside the box but as soon as I opened them and saw the lipstick AND matching lip pencil I realized I came across an insane deal. One box costs $1.99. I bought 14.

Missing a few. One fell in a puddle of rain right before this shot 😅

The very next day the price went up to $3.99. Not too bad considering the website shows them going for $29.

I've used every color so far and I have my favorites. Posie, Vixen, Boujee. I haven't worn the dark metal green yet....Not sure when I will.

Of course, just like a lot of their one of a kind items, the lip kits are no longer at the Dollar Mart I go to but I continue to go back and check for those rare surprises!

Color Run, San Antonio Texas 2017

Going for a run.

I started running back in 2015, and went more often in 2016, and 2017.

House Our Heroes, San Antonio Texas 2017

I hated running when I was in the Corps.

I'm not sure why I had this sudden need to accomplish running.....AND get better at it?

9/11 Heroes Run, San Antonio Texas 2017

Maybe it's because.........I'm not forced to do it.
Maybe it's because.........I can run at my own pace.
Maybe it's because.........I love to push myself to do things I thought I couldn't.

Fit Pass 2017 with Sister in Law, April Heather

I never thought I would be good at running but now seeing that I can run at my own pace without having to please anyone with my run time is a far better deal. If you were in the Marine Corps you probably know what I'm talking about. Always someone breathing mad because your run time wasn't top notch, or you were falling behind in a squad run. I hated it. To be honest, I think a small part of me dislikes it still but not like the way I used to!

Honor Run and Ride 2017

Now that I'm free (from a strong USMC grip) running for me is mind boggling. It's not a stress reliever like it might be for other runners. It helps me think better....and I feel better after even though I acquire a headache because of it! Since beginning this journey my family has supported me from day One. Hubby. Children. They are wonderful supporters....they help me continue my goals. What family doesn't do that for their loved one?

American Heroes Relay, San Antonio Texas 2017

Feeling better after a run is what happens.

Plus it's great knowing that I pushed myself toward a run goal for next time.
I go running to clear my mind and to keep balance and focus in my life, my kids, my loved ones, my future plans. I guess it's a refresher/renewal for my soul and a way to think about all the good things that I'm blessed with. I'll call it.....Therapy Running 💗

Manic.

Just my luck, after I get rid of those wine colored lipsticks from my stash because they "...were so 90's, like yesterday!" I end up receiving the most gorgeous wine lipstick just in time for the trend.

Manic by Urban Decay....This 'brown wine' trend was quickly adopted in the fall of 2014 and has been the hot topic among lipstick addicts like myself. The color does look a bit 90's....I remember the lipsticks I had in my crystal clear lipstick holder that sat atop my dresser along side with my Caboodles. I'd apply this wine/brown color to head out for the movies with my friends, but not before talking on a house phone about the latest Beverly Hills 90210 episode! All my 80's baby readers know what I'm talking about! Wine/brown back then was timeless. Sailing the trend waves on the lips of lots of beautiful actresses and singers, Drew Barrymore, Shannon Doherty, Selena, Spice Girls! Red is now the timeless color, another one of my faves but I'm pretty glad Wine/brown decided to make a comeback...I absolutely love it.

Manic. Proves to be just the color missing from my lipstick library. It's a soft wine color, according to Urban Decay. It is so unique. If I may, it has this weird purple-lish tint to it....

But just because my lips are a little bit dry and out of shape doesn't mean I can't rock the prettiest lipstick to date. Revolution lipstick has Maxi-Lip which is a trademark detail - it provides lips with nourishing oils, keeps them plump, full looking, and moisturized. For this demo I lined my lips with the matching liner in Manic...both play well as far as extended wear go. I love the color, it's so drenched and rich. If I may, I would like to say it feels a lot like the Revlon ColorBurst lip butters but not as light or slippery. Revlon's CLB are a tad on the glossy side and Revolution lipsticks are semi glossy...Not too sure why I chose the CLB's to compare to but it's what I had on hand.

20 different shades to choose from. $22 each. The lipstick tube is gorgeous. Shiny darkened metal on the outside, purple glam on the inside. Engraved Urban Decay on the lipstick cover. Just gorgeous!

Disclosure: All items were sent to me for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Is Flamingo Pose a Coral or Pink?

What would you call it?

Milani's Color Statement lipstick in Flamingo Pose is a beautiful, satin coral pink color that is bright but modest when worn. The question arose a few days ago after trying on...It's so not all that important but this question is urking me when I wear it :)

I took the time to compare FP with a few Corally lipsticks and then swatched next to a majority of Pink lipsticks. While the coral tone seems to stick out a bit compared to other corals in my stash I still feel that in this shot FP may just be a pink....But the shot with pinks say otherwise...

In Below pic - See how FP is just brighter in comparison? The shot is pretty much true than what was seen in real life. During swatching FP continually kept looking just too corally to be sat next to pink tones, Which brings me to the question again (I'm going to drive myself crazy, haha)

FP also poses similarities to Wet n Wild Don't Blink Pink (even though in this shot it says otherwise.) In person the two are similar.

I'm calling it a Coral. I think I'll stick with that :)

Josie Maran Argan Love your Lips lipstick

I know Josie Maran is known for her great natural looking cosmetics-great gems of products but for some reason this lip product didn't work out for me. I love other products in her line, for example the Pure Argan oil, Hydrating body butter and color stick. I'll pass on this one though. I have the color in Fuchsia Frolic which is a semi bright fuchsia color but is still subtle to the eye. Retails for $22 and comes in a few other colors.

Let me start out by saying that the way the actual lipstick is shaped and designed (the outer layer of gloss and the inner layer of pure color) is NOT the first design to be put out ever. A few years ago AVON put out the first ever 'Outer layer gloss and inner layer color' lipstick....I believe called Shine Attract lipstick ($9) and was a big hit. Pure color wrapped in clear gloss but in Josie Maran's case, her lipstick clear gloss part contains the Argan. I can't compare the both quality and standard since I've never tried the Shine Attract but just got intrigued to try it, especially with the very friendly price tag compared to JM's.

(Avon Shine Attrace lipstick-pure color wrapped in clear gloss)

Here is what I gather: I like the color but I don't like the way it applies so unevenly. I had to maneuver the lipstick a few times on the lips in order for it to apply evenly, if I hadn't then I'd end up with no lip color on the outer edges on my lips and only on the inner lips.....have you ever had a red popsicle or candy that stained your lips after you're done eating it, yep that is what we're dealing with here. So waste of product is not necessary, especially if it's costing you $22+

And where is the rest of it? The entire product was only about 3/4ths of an inch tall.

I really liked the packaging though. And the glossiness was outstanding....Overall I was not impressed and returned it promptly.

This swatch is about 7+ swipes on the back of my hand.

Flower Beauty Lipsticks

Am I late or what?

I've been meaning to write a review about the cute and beautiful and new cosmetic line created by the lovely Drew Barrymore but just never got around to it! This is what happens when you have a house, husband, and 4 arguing children to referee during free time :)

Ok, so for now I have 2 Kiss stick Velvet lip colors in So Gladiola and Tender Tuberose. All the names of her items reference flowers which is nice.

These lipsticks have a creamy and semi matte finish and are scented with grape seed oil. The packaging is nice, a little on the bulky side but cute.

Retails for $6.98 and can only be bought at participating Walmart stores.

Tender Tuberose (top) and So Gladiola (bottom) swatches

I love the way the colors are shown on the bottom of the lipsticks, individuality is so awesome!

If you own any Flower Beauty items, which are your favorites I'd love to try other products in the line so give me your recommendations!

New items galore

Last time my haul featured new Wet n Wild lipstick colors and I focused on getting out my first impressions of Garnier's BB cream (which I love to death). With the anticipation of the arrival of my newborn and becoming a full time mom, my shopping for products windled down a bit for most of 2012 so I apologize if this new items article isn't scintillating much...but my main focus for 2013 is to buy the latest products so I can get the reviews out as soon as I can.

Sephora Jumbo Crayon Waterproof wear ($12) One of the best long lasting jumbo eye color pencils I've discovered

Probably the most interesting find of this article would be the new Maybelline Color Tattoo's (24 hour) by Eyestudio. Below is the chart of how they look on the eyes, bare, without primer. The Larenim color loose pigment is from a store in my city which features natural or organic cosmetics.
