Halloween Costume Ideas/Tutorials

For the longest time I've wanted to create the 'Chola' look but never had the time until now. I am a believer that certain makeup techniques may have originated from this interesting look. Although I'm not a big fan of this type of makeup look, (outdated lips, over-emphasized eyes and brows) I do appreciate the drama in the eyes and the confidence in these women that wear the look today.

'Chola with the Dark Lips'

First look is sharp eyeshadow with dark lips! Put on your foundation, here I used Neutrogena's healthy skin makeup. Create a high arch in the brows, if your brows don't have a high arch that's ok, just darken them to the max! Mainly any black eyeshadow will do for the eyes, drawn on with a pencil brush, prime with NYX Milk or any white cream eyeshadow....

What I used: eyeliner on the lower lashline is Urban Decay in Zero and upper lashline is Maybelline Line Stiletto. Blush is Aziza in Desert. Lips lined with Urban Decay in Whiskey, lipstick is MAC Diva.

To complete the look you could add on large falsies (fake eyelashes) or instead of dark red lips use all black.

Another idea for Chola eyebrows, pencil thin this time!

'The Natural Looking Chola'

For this look I just mainly swept a deep purple eyeshadow on the lid and on the outer crease. I used NYX Milk to line my upper lashline. Blended out the purple using the beige color in the WnW (Wet n Wild) I love Matte palette. I did my brows normal here. I wanted to create a sharp contour so I used MAC eyeshadow in Antiqued.

What I used: Foundation is Neutrogena's healthy skin compact makeup, Urban Decay eyeliner 24/7 in Zero, WnW I love Matte palette for purple, beige, and white as highlight, Aziza blush, lips lined with Urban Decay eyeliner 24/7 in Whiskey, MAC lipstick in Creme d Nude, mascara Covergirl lash perfection

Have a great and safe Halloween!

ELF and Wet N Wild collab

Finally had a chance to play around with my new ELF Beautybook Neutral Eye edition and WNW Snow Sprite that I bought last month. Anywho it didn't quite come out like I had hoped....

LA Colors Eyeshadows

Using only my LA Colors eyeshadow palettes from Dollar Tree I decided to create something a little dramatic. This was an interesting experience in that I was not sure how well the shadows would work....Let me explain, I have used only 1 or 2 colors by themselves in the past but since I was incorporating a few colors for this look, I had a few doubts (like pigmentation, blending)....

My feelings were wrong, these shadows are really nice....together! I guess with a little imagination and patience (some shadows are hard to work with!) you can create something nice....

To start off, I contoured the eyes with a satiny soft light brown color found on the LA Colors 'Traditional' palette. I then covered the entire lid with a soft purple shade from the 'Chic' palette. I'm not sure why I chose this color, at the time I thought it would stand out but as you can see from the picture the color soon faded. For the crease and outer 'V' I applied a shimmery chocolate color from the 'Darling' palette....

For more depth and to increase the 'smoky' of the look, LA Colors mineral e/s in black was added to the outer 'V' and crease blending just slightly in.

For highlight, I just used the lightest white pearl color from the Traditional palette, but honestly any light color from any of the palettes will suffice as a highlight color.

For a pop of color I added a magenta maroonish color from 'Fabulous' on the lower lashline

Eyes:
UDPP
On the Lid - 2
Contour area - 1
Crease- 3 and LA Colors minerals eyeshadow 'Black'
Highlight - the 'White pearl' color from the Traditional palette
lower lashline - 4 and Sephora Eyebrow #2 pencil
Maybelline line stiletto
Loreal Voluminous mascara

Face:
Revlon Colorstay Golden Caramel
Prescriptives Camo concealer
LA Colors blush Spice

Lips:
Santee lipliner Flush Red
Nicka K lipstick 'Wicked'

My favorite product out of any of the LA Colors line from Dollar Tree happens to be the nail polishes and lipsticks... And if I could pick one more favorite it would be the 'Traditional' e/s palette. What are your favorite Dollar Tree makeup products?

Have a great weekend everyone!

LADY GAGA TELEPHONE VIDEO MAKEUP

*Message from Lali Amora, 8/31/10,
Hi everyone! I was excited to see that most of you have been brought to my blog, specifically the Lady Gaga Tutorial post whether it be from a Google search, or Yahoo search or otherwise. I am so glad you decided to drop by! I ask of you, pretty please, to leave a comment after reading the Lady Gaga post, it helps me decide whether these are the kinds of tutorials readers like you are interested in and would like to see....yes your input is important to me! Thanks again for visiting my blog, and welcome!

-----------------
What I admire most about Lady Gaga is that she is not shy when it comes to her fashion and makeup. Many of her looks come out as amazing and outlandish, which are looks that I love.
Lady Gaga 'Telephone' Video...One of my favorite videos....Here today, I've tried my best to re-create her gorgeous look, as she was the inspiration...It may not be exactly as hers but it is my own take on it, hope you all enjoy it. The video featured many different looks and provided a vast array of color....The remake of my look was from the kitchen scene at the diner, provided with just a few screen shots of her makeup. Original makeup artist, Billy B. for Lady Gaga, created an amazing blackened blue smoky eye.

Tutorial-
I applied foundation eye level and above, I colored in my brows and put MAC Gesso e/s as highlight...
Apply tape from outer last lash to almost edge of eyebrows, like shown below...
Apply the dark blue color by starting at inner contour area and glide it in a straight line to outer 'v' area...

Apply dark navy color near outer edge of eye and outer 'v'

apply the dark navy color as a cut crease and blend...
apply a lighter blue color on entire center lid and blend in...
afterwards, remove the tape...

Apply liquid eyeliner on upper lashline and apply the purple shadow on lower lashline, I used Beautyrush, Plum Crazy...the purple eyeshadow will only serve as a base for now, we will add on more purple shadow after a few more steps...
Apply the inner corner color, here I used Gesso again...
now apply the black eyeliner on lower lashline & lower and upper waterline...
Apply liquid eyeliner on edge of the shadow you placed earlier, connect it with your upper lashline liner...at this point as well, you can apply a more vibrant purple shadow to your lower lashline and afterwards clean up any fallout...

In this pic, I've already applied my concealer, mascara, foundation and started contouring and adding blush to my cheeks...

Last but not least, apply a vibrant pink lipstick such as MAC Girl About Town...

For finishing touches, I've lightly blended harshlines and lightly swept Gesso e/s under the outer liner line to make it stand out...
My mis-matched earrings provided a hopeful tinge of Gaga's creativity.
