MAC, is this some sick joke?

Recently received a MAC email I guess to promote the new Fall Colour collections and I open the email and to my disbelief a picture of this woman pops up...This is what they used for marketing? Seriously?

It may be just me but I am not impressed and find the picture disgusting. Anyone out there that received the same email? What do you think about it? Please discuss....

New things and Pink lipstick swatches

Pretty much little items here and there that I've gotten recently! But some things have been on my shopping list for more than a few weeks!

-New: Neutrogena Naturals Fresh cleansing + Makeup remover ($7)

Neutrogena recently came out with a new collection of skincare called Neutrogena Naturals. You can check out all the other products that are part of this new collection here. What intrigued me about this face wash was that it is also a makeup remover.....it seems that I am always on the look-out for cleanser type makeup removers! The good news is that I can think of only 2 items that can completely wipe away all traces of my 'warpaint', Biore Clean Things Up and MAC makeup remover wipes. (See my Biore Clean Things Up cleanser review here) I'm really loving the 'naturals' characteristics....no harsh chemicals, parabens, sulfates, or dyes and contains 'peruvian tara seed'. Sounds pretty interesting to me, I'll do a review on it soon.

-Essence of Beauty, travel Blush Brush ($6) and 3 powder applicators ($3)

For once I have found a blush brush that fits in my little Escada makeup bag! The funny thing is that I've been using it more for my setting powder than my blush. When I use it with my favorite setting powder, the William Tuttle finishing powder, it is petite enough to brush over under the eyes, on the sides of my nose, etc...perhaps due to it's slant....and when used for blush it does a great job on that too. The 3 little powder puffs I bought as a result of me leaving my makeup and powder kabuki at home! I'm usually on the go and in a hurry every morning, so one day I completely forgot my foundation and powder at home, I decided to buy the puffs to apply my mineral powder.

The day I decided to buy and wear my most favorite pressed mineral powder is the same day I forgot my kabuki at home (see how the powder puffs story tie together, lol) So I applied my Physicians Formula Mineral Wear ($12) with the puffs and called it a day. I might just keep the puffs in my purse as a backup! I bought the Mineral Wear after running out of it completely, even better CVS gave me a $7 off coupon a few days back for any Physicians Formula product, so I used it to get my new Mineral wear.

-Garnier Skin Nutritioniste Skin Renew, Anti-Dark circle roller ($9.99)

I never thought a good concealer could be found in the facial lotion section at the drugstore! Garnier's new Anti-dark roller is a perfect 'apply and go' concealer with benefits. Containing .5 fl oz, you need only one swipe of the roller to cover under the eyes. As the concealer goes under the eye it brightens and makes for a fresh and even skintone on this delicate area. At first I was skeptical but I tried it just as soon as I left the store. The Sheer tint is an understatement, it gives that perfect concealment and lasts a good while....expect a full review soon :)

-MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC 35 ($28)

I've been wanting to try this powder for so long I've already lost count how many years I've let by, lol. I had a credit/giftcard from a return a few days ago and decided to give this powder a try. Not even 10 minutes after buying it did I already have it on and was an instant fan. I try to buy powders that I can wear alone that give me full coverage so this one was perfect, was everything I was hoping for.

-MAC WonderWoman Marquise d' ($15.50) and Viva Glam Gaga 2 ($14.50) lipsticks

I don't even have to say anything about this, you know the drill :)

haha....but I will say this...I absolutely love WonderWoman and was thrilled for MAC to debut this kind of collection! I just needed the lipstick, nothing else :) and what Lady Gaga fan wouldn't dive at a chance to own a lipstick named after Gaga herself?

-Wet n Wild coloricon eyeshadow trios ($2.77 each)

I find these great, somewhat containing a little more fall-out than I like, but these are quite the gems. I also find a great eyeshadow base paired with these equal to some fab eyes....My favorite is the Silent Treatment. While we're on the subject of eyeshadows, I recently purchased some more of the Bissu eyeshadow quads. The #24 is a nice red and pinks quad, more suitable for a valentine's day look and the #32 is cute for a reddish smoky eye or green smoky eye, the #32 is very versatile

More Lip stuff!
-Victoria's Secret beauty rush lip gloss with SPF 15 in Mega Melon ($7)
-LA Girl lipstick in Promise ($1.99)
-Wet n Wild lipstick in Think Pink ($1.99)

I found the Beauty Rush lipgloss at a recent trip to VS while I was shopping for a new perfume....if you're curious to know I picked up the newest fragrance, Love me....it smells divine! What I love about the lipgloss is that for some reason the formulation of these new ones with SPF seem to be a bit more softer and non-sticky than the previous beauty rush lipglosses. I love the Mega Melon color, a rich coppery melon color with gold sparkles...perfect for summer coming up...and it has SPF!
On a separate trip to the Makeup Palace I found a shelf of LA Girl items and picked up a lipstick in Promise. It's a very nice sheer and creamy color, much like a MAC Creamsheen lipstick and it's a perfect color for me if I want dramatic or sophisticated lips since it's almost the same color of my natural lips....And why hadn't I picked up WNW's lipstick in Think Pink? Such a pretty color, it's not bold at all, it's very soft and give that perfect nude pink color to the lips.

An Ulta kind of girl!

-OPI nail polish in The one that got away ($6)
-OPI nail polish in It's not rocket science ($6)
-Japonesque travel stippling brush ($28)

It seemed like ages since I'd last been to Ulta, so a few Fridays ago I decided to go and buy some things. I picked up 2 nail polishes and my first ever stippling brush. The OPI nail color is a cute darkened hot pink with tons of shiny pink glitter or large flecks of glitter which sparkle just lovely. The Orly color is a cool lime to avocado green with tons of shiny green glitters. I had a hard time deciding on a stippling brush, it was either Ulta's stippling brush or Japonesque....so I decided on Japonesque. I really love this brush. I've used it plenty of times and I find it super soft.

Last but not least Vogue's newest issue is out and features none other than my favorite gal, Lady Gaga.

Here are a few swatches of some pink lipsticks that I just had to put together to see if any looked similar....I hope this is helpful to anyone that is looking for dupes or pink lipsticks to buy.

Have a great weekend!

Lipstick Spotlight: MAC Lame lipstick

The beauty of this lipstick? It must be the frosty toned down pink tint, the way it makes me look polished, or the way it covers the pigment of my natural lips...Lame has been a longtime favorite of mine, this is my second tube....I just love it for work, or for a latenight dinner.
Lame, pronounced 'La- May' is a gorgeous muted pink with golden shimmer.

Mini Birthday Haul

What a great birthday I had! My husband took care of the kiddos while I went shopping at the outlets with my sister in law. It was so much fun, we had a blast! We ate lunch, went shopping of course, and gossipped throughout the day. When I got home I had my favorite cake waiting for me, a german chocolate 2 layer cake, that my nice husband managed to bake despite the babysitting duties, he's totally great!

So, I'm disappointed as I did not haul alot of things as I planned on at the CCO....to be honest, they just didn't have much of a selection, grrrr.... But I did get a few things, here is what I got on my Birthday Weekend :)

A trip to the outlets started with Bath and Body to load up on the Antibacterial hand soap which were being clearanced for $1.50 each so I got a few of those and had to stock up on my favorite Country Apple stuffies....

After that, a purchase for 4 $5 pajamas at Victoria's Secret...(sorry no pics because they have all been worn and are in my hamper! lol) After that was the CCO.... I picked up a MAC pigment in Kitschmas and Dazzleglass in Phiff!

A short stop at Icing because my sister in law wanted to look at the rings but I was not planning on getting anything until I saw the polishes! I yanked Jaded off the shelves as soon as I saw it...What a gorgeous jade creamy color....good thing we stopped in there :)

Icing 'Jaded' w/flash

'Jaded' in natural light no flash....Sorry if the swatch is with messy cuticles and all, I was in a hurry!

I finally decided to re-purchase this one perfume, an ol' favorite of mine Hypnotic Poison by Dior...I love this scent, I've gone through 3 bottles of this, so I'm happy to rekindle the love again

At a flea market I spotted some Avon makeup, unused and still in boxes and for a fraction of the catalog price, I got Coral Radiance blush for $4, a blush that I've been after but could not find myself to pay $8 for...

It's a pretty light peach/coral shade with tiny little sparkles :)

And I also bought a purple glass stone bracelet, cute!

The gold hoops on the first pic and this silver bracelet are from Burlington Coat store and the Sonia Kashuk precise eyeshadow brush is from Target. That is all!

LADY GAGA TELEPHONE VIDEO MAKEUP

*Message from Lali Amora, 8/31/10,
Hi everyone! I was excited to see that most of you have been brought to my blog, specifically the Lady Gaga Tutorial post whether it be from a Google search, or Yahoo search or otherwise. I am so glad you decided to drop by! I ask of you, pretty please, to leave a comment after reading the Lady Gaga post, it helps me decide whether these are the kinds of tutorials readers like you are interested in and would like to see....yes your input is important to me! Thanks again for visiting my blog, and welcome!

-----------------
What I admire most about Lady Gaga is that she is not shy when it comes to her fashion and makeup. Many of her looks come out as amazing and outlandish, which are looks that I love.
Lady Gaga 'Telephone' Video...One of my favorite videos....Here today, I've tried my best to re-create her gorgeous look, as she was the inspiration...It may not be exactly as hers but it is my own take on it, hope you all enjoy it. The video featured many different looks and provided a vast array of color....The remake of my look was from the kitchen scene at the diner, provided with just a few screen shots of her makeup. Original makeup artist, Billy B. for Lady Gaga, created an amazing blackened blue smoky eye.

Tutorial-
I applied foundation eye level and above, I colored in my brows and put MAC Gesso e/s as highlight...
Apply tape from outer last lash to almost edge of eyebrows, like shown below...
Apply the dark blue color by starting at inner contour area and glide it in a straight line to outer 'v' area...

Apply dark navy color near outer edge of eye and outer 'v'

apply the dark navy color as a cut crease and blend...
apply a lighter blue color on entire center lid and blend in...
afterwards, remove the tape...

Apply liquid eyeliner on upper lashline and apply the purple shadow on lower lashline, I used Beautyrush, Plum Crazy...the purple eyeshadow will only serve as a base for now, we will add on more purple shadow after a few more steps...
Apply the inner corner color, here I used Gesso again...
now apply the black eyeliner on lower lashline & lower and upper waterline...
Apply liquid eyeliner on edge of the shadow you placed earlier, connect it with your upper lashline liner...at this point as well, you can apply a more vibrant purple shadow to your lower lashline and afterwards clean up any fallout...

In this pic, I've already applied my concealer, mascara, foundation and started contouring and adding blush to my cheeks...

Last but not least, apply a vibrant pink lipstick such as MAC Girl About Town...

For finishing touches, I've lightly blended harshlines and lightly swept Gesso e/s under the outer liner line to make it stand out...
My mis-matched earrings provided a hopeful tinge of Gaga's creativity.

May Haul Part 3

My MAC order finally arrived after a few days of chasing down the UPS man after him leaving notes at my door...lol

I got the chance to try Tokidoki and a review will be coming up soon!

SO here is part 3 of my May Haul, I still have one more to show you, I guess I went overboard that month, LOL

I took back the MAC cream blush that I wore in a previous FOTD, I think it was called Style? Yeah, that color was meh....didn't like it that much so I exchanged for MAC's Ladyblush, which was a much better color....very pretty. I got an eyeshadow in Sorcery, a pretty reddish brown color, an eye pencil in Teddy which is a frosty chocolate brown (fall and winter colors)... Alas, I got the new lipstick from To the Beach in Beachbound....OMG, very pretty color, it made my skin glow when I put it on :)
The Tokidoki palette is super nice, very pigmented, long lasting...this one is in Bastardino..Packaging is super cute....

.My favorite color from the palette is the golden beige color on the upper right hand corner. I also got a single eyeshadow in Skeletrina- a matte vibrant royal blue.

American Apparel has a few new colors so I picked up California Trooper, Summer peach, and Mount Royal...
I got 2 Borghese nail colors recently from CVS, marked down 75% off, these colors are Cannoli cream and Milano Taupe...if you love these check out CVS for the sales!

Cute dog? :D

May Haul Part 2

The month pretty much went by super fast! I’m counting down the days left for school and I’m eager to get the summer started! First up: I had the pleasure of sampling Bath and Body's new summer Vanillas scent Lemon....I fell hard for this scent, it is sweet and tart and smells delish, just like a lemon merengue pie :) I bought the lotion only and then went back for a backup lotion and the spray.

I wanted to split up this haul because I've been waiting eagerly for my MAC 'To the Beach' order to arrive, so instead of just showing you what I got from MAC on a separate post I'd thought I'd save half of my haul to show you along with the MAC order, when it finally does come...That's basically the driving force that is keeping me from just dashing right over to my nearest MAC store and purchasing all of the collection! knowing how pretty it is...lol...so part 2 of this haul is coming up pretty soon in a day or two...

The 2 Sally Hansen HD polishes I bought from Walgreens ‘DVD' and 'Spectrum' ....pretty cool colors, I would describe them as ultra shimmery but not glittery, I first called them a Dazzleglass polish because it is what would result if a MAC dazzleglass and nail polish got together, lol :D

The Aero makeup bags were on clearance for $4, SH Jumping Jade nail polish was from Target and I picked up a few Sinful 'pinks' from Walgreens: (left to right) Beautiful Girl, Cream Pink, and Pink.

I was organizing my drawer with alot of drugstore lippies and came across 2 CG Wetslicks glosses I forgot I bought back in April. I got Candy and Tutu. On that same day I got the CG eyeshadow trio.

The Profusion palette I was telling you about a few days ago has been winning over my heart. I just love the formula of all the shadows, most are shimmers but are lovely
I hauled these Sally Hansen Moist and Matte lip colors from the Dollar Tree because of a haul video I saw by Elena or FUNKYEYESHADOW. Let me tell you, if you can get your hands on these please try, for a dollar you won't be disappointed...These are the bomb! haha - oldschool words, but yeah! :D I got Linen, Satine, and Chiffon.
Last by not least I was looking for a great neutral palette for everyday and came across Shady Lady, which is sold at Sephora. I went over to see if I could find it in the store but they didn't have it so I opted to buy it from TheBalm.... Shipping was free and they sent me a sample as well. I love the colors! I'm excited about this palette :)

Oh yeah, my new nail polish project still a work in progress but I will show it to you once it is finished!

Everyone have a wonderful week! Please ask away if you have questions, Remember to join my nail polish giveaway if you haven’t done so already!
