Josie Maran Argan Love your Lips lipstick

I know Josie Maran is known for her great natural looking cosmetics-great gems of products but for some reason this lip product didn't work out for me. I love other products in her line, for example the Pure Argan oil, Hydrating body butter and color stick. I'll pass on this one though. I have the color in Fuchsia Frolic which is a semi bright fuchsia color but is still subtle to the eye. Retails for $22 and comes in a few other colors.

Let me start out by saying that the way the actual lipstick is shaped and designed (the outer layer of gloss and the inner layer of pure color) is NOT the first design to be put out ever. A few years ago AVON put out the first ever 'Outer layer gloss and inner layer color' lipstick....I believe called Shine Attract lipstick ($9) and was a big hit. Pure color wrapped in clear gloss but in Josie Maran's case, her lipstick clear gloss part contains the Argan. I can't compare the both quality and standard since I've never tried the Shine Attract but just got intrigued to try it, especially with the very friendly price tag compared to JM's.

(Avon Shine Attrace lipstick-pure color wrapped in clear gloss)

Here is what I gather: I like the color but I don't like the way it applies so unevenly. I had to maneuver the lipstick a few times on the lips in order for it to apply evenly, if I hadn't then I'd end up with no lip color on the outer edges on my lips and only on the inner lips.....have you ever had a red popsicle or candy that stained your lips after you're done eating it, yep that is what we're dealing with here. So waste of product is not necessary, especially if it's costing you $22+

And where is the rest of it? The entire product was only about 3/4ths of an inch tall.

I really liked the packaging though. And the glossiness was outstanding....Overall I was not impressed and returned it promptly.

This swatch is about 7+ swipes on the back of my hand.

Flower Beauty Lipsticks

Am I late or what?

I've been meaning to write a review about the cute and beautiful and new cosmetic line created by the lovely Drew Barrymore but just never got around to it! This is what happens when you have a house, husband, and 4 arguing children to referee during free time :)

Ok, so for now I have 2 Kiss stick Velvet lip colors in So Gladiola and Tender Tuberose. All the names of her items reference flowers which is nice.

These lipsticks have a creamy and semi matte finish and are scented with grape seed oil. The packaging is nice, a little on the bulky side but cute.

Retails for $6.98 and can only be bought at participating Walmart stores.

Tender Tuberose (top) and So Gladiola (bottom) swatches

I love the way the colors are shown on the bottom of the lipsticks, individuality is so awesome!

If you own any Flower Beauty items, which are your favorites I'd love to try other products in the line so give me your recommendations!

Lorac Lips with Benefits

While in Sephora I stumbled across Lorac Lips with Benefits lip gloss ($18) simply because I was on a hunt for a super shiny lipgloss that had opague color. These come in about 6 colors but as you can see, in 1 tube a trio of colors make up a gorgeous finished color. I love rocking this because the color is opague and beautiful.

The design is zigzag and funky!

According to Lorac the Lips with Benefits lip glosses are meant to be hydrating and completely comfortable to wear, and as an added bonus will benefit your lips by providing antioxidants of Acai Berry, Pomegranate Extract and Vitamins C & E. There is a sweet creamy brulee scent, not really something I'd expect though for some reason I would have thought they would have a fruity scent, nevertheless it is nice.

It is super comfortable and very glossy, I loved the way it looked natural!

ELF lipstick Classy

It's moisturizing, creamy, color-drenched, cheap.....what more can you ask for?

I admit when I first saw these on the market I was a little hesitant to try out, even at a buck per tube. When I found them at my local Target I picked out a color and tried it on in the car.

-First Impressions-

I thought to myself, 'Wow, nice and creamy and the color is amazing!'
At first they felt a bit waxy but I put a second coat on and the color covered all of my natural lip pigment. I was amazed at how soft and moisturizing it felt. So difficult to explain but the color is buildable, with each coat the color intensifies...it is very true to color which I can appreciate :)

(pic of 'Classy' with no flash photography)

I went back and bought another, hee hee :)

-Packaging-

So the packaging is not 'all that' but it is acceptable. The plastic casing doesn't feel cheap, but it isn't the best design either...I see it this way, it could be worse. The lipstick doesn't desend all the way down, you have a good 2 or 3 centimeters of lipstick still sticking up. I love the way the color of the lipstick shows through on the side of the tube.

-Product Details-

The cost...only one dollar :) The product contains 3.5 grams and comes in six additional colors with a total of 7 to choose from. There is a very faint fruity scent which is not bothersome at all.

Christmas Red Lips with Milani Lip Flash

Red lips for a night out, going out to eat, Christmas party, or going shopping!
I recently went on a little shopping trip to my nearest CVS, just to check out the.....yes you guessed, MAKEUP, LOL.....I found these new little Milani Lip Flash lip pencils and dared to try one out, it's good that if I happen to hate it, I can always return it since CVS has a great 'love it or return it' policy. These Lip Flashes are new lipstick pencils made by Milani, made to be a lipstick consistency but in pencil form. They currently have other colors such as Photo Flash, Star Flash and Flashy. I bought my Lip Flash in the color Hot Flash, a true red, with just a touch of shimmering pink sheen.

What the Milani website says about Lip Flash:
"The electric lip look is defined with highly pigmented flashy shimmer colors. Create news worthy lips with extra glossy, high color coverage and moisture rich ingredients. A sharpenable, easy to use, anti-feathering and nontacky lip gloss pencil."

The pencil contains 2.8 grams and retails for $7.99...it comes wrapped up in safety plastic (so nobody can swatch it! eww) and it has a clear cover cap. The pencil is a little 'chubby' but not too skinny. It is very easy to handle.

While the website claims the lip color to be 'extra glossy' I feel that is somewhat over-exaggerated. It's true that the lip color has rich pigmentation and is nicely moisturizing, the glossiness is not 100% instead a nice little smidget of shine. In any case, I feel the shine in Hot Flash is due to the cool little pigment or pearl sheen that is in the color....I've taken a closeup in the pic below that somewhat exhibits the gorgeousness of the sheen!

What I really love about the Lip Flash is the moisturizing quality! The lipstick itself is soft, smooth, glides on very smoothly, and keeps your lips moisturized and supple. Another key note: The high color coverage...I can't believe the amount of color of the pigmentation, which at first application is a great saturation of color on the lips, you only need one coat...After my first application the pencil hadn't looked at all used, which is very good-I don't have to keep re-sharpening it! So does it last on the lips? and if so for how long? In my case the Lip Flash lasted for a few hours, about 4, it is not entirely transfer proof but I can say if you drink beverages during the day, etc, you may lose some of the color. It transferred alot when I kissed my hand and I drink alot of water, seemed to transfer there as well but after about 4 hours the color still looked intact.

Lipgloss Spotlight: Mary Kay Nourishine lipgloss

Happy Holidays gals! I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was wonderful as was mine, I cooked the entire meal from scratch and had my family over at my house and had a great time! My very nice sister-in-law spent the rest of the week with us, I painted her nails and tinted her hair and we just sat around and talked....But all good things must come to an end, it was back to work on Monday! bah! I think the only great thing about returning to work on Monday was all the emails about the sales for Cyber Monday, I did haul a few things so I should be featuring them soon!

A while back a good friend of mine, Jeanette, had a Mary Kay party but unfortunately I wasn't able to go. I told her that I would order from her anyway so I went online to see what they had. Actually it was quite difficult for me to choose since most of the swatches on their website are hard to differenciate. My only choice was to take a chance on a lipgloss color. I'm not really a big fan of Mary Kay products, I've mentioned this before, but I was really intrigued by this lipgloss, I just had to share

Mary Kay Nourishine lipgloss in Fancy Nancy

The truth about this lipgloss is that it isn't at all that shiny, I should have compared the shine with another lipgloss but I would say they come close in shine like the Avon Glazewear Lipgloss.

It is a light Pink/Coral shade with tiny gold sparkles.
Comes with a doe-foot applicator.
Is only $1 cheaper than a MAC lipgloss.
Comes in a few other colors (but in my opinion I wish they would make more colors!)

I really like to layer this gloss over a deep color like a fuchsia pink or true red, it really brings out the sparkles!
This gloss is not sticky at all, it has a smooth consistency, keeps your lips moisturized and stays on quite a while. As I mentioned before, it isn't shiny all that much but I guess you could apply a top coat of your favorite clear gloss if you want more shine.

Lipstick Spotlight and Giveaway

Nail Polish Winner Update! At the bottom of this post!
Rich dark magenta pink, a cute color for going out, is a little too bright for everyday use but what may seem too bright to me may be a perfect everyday color to others :) Interesting that this lipstick is by LA Colors, a known cheap brand, but still I can't resist this color...
Color #cp232

It's very unlike me to drool over nude lipcolors unless I'm wearing 2 lbs of eyeshadow that day but lately it's been all about nude lipsticks. Here is one of my faves, Pink Beige by Bobbi Brown which partake in this special Lipstick Spotlight.

What is your favorite lipstick at the moment?

Lipstick Spotlight: Lancome Graceful Rose

I didn't want a bright red, nor a dark burgundy....what I really wanted was a frosty magenta color, somehow bright but dark enough for fall :)

Lancome's Le Rouge Absolu in Graceful Rose is a cute pinkish-reddish color with hints of magenta and golden frost.

What is your favorite lip color for fall?

Lipstick Spotlight: Rimmel London Vintage Pink

I took my time at posting this weeks Lipstick Spotlight, please don't be mad at me!

This week the spotlight goes to Rimmel London lipstick (moisture renew) in Vintage Pink. A gorgeous Pink lavender shade without the shimmer or frost.

It's so funny because I longed to find this color....it was on my mind during times when I would go to the store.....I think it was because the color was an idea or vision of what I was looking for, and when I found it I'd noticed that some were swatched or messed up in the tube, eww....

But soon I began to search for an untouched one and found it....and my love began, haha

If you like love the Rimmel London lipsticks, which shade is your favorite?

Lipstick Spotlight: MAC Lame lipstick

The beauty of this lipstick? It must be the frosty toned down pink tint, the way it makes me look polished, or the way it covers the pigment of my natural lips...Lame has been a longtime favorite of mine, this is my second tube....I just love it for work, or for a latenight dinner.
Lame, pronounced 'La- May' is a gorgeous muted pink with golden shimmer.

Lipstick Spotlight: Dior Addict High Shine

Champagne Blush

I wish Dior made more colors! I wish they were just a tad bit cheaper! I wish I could collect them all!

This week's Lipstick Spotlight is on Dior's Addict High Shine lip color in Champagne Blush. I bought this color quite sometime ago and started wearing it all last week practically. Formulation of these are great...Smooth, creamy, glossy, and sparkly....Champagne blush is a gorgeous pale pink :)

And the packaging is out of this world :)
