Izzy's Makeup shop info

Recently came across a website called Izzy's, and I was so incredibly happy because it is safe and they take paypal! I must say, they have a nice selection of

Cosmetics
Men & Women Fragrance
Skincare
Haircare
Gift Sets

Name brand stuff at affordable prices. Izzy's offer you the same products for alot less because they are the tester versions *that haven't been used or tested obviously :) * This is great because I'm always loving to check out makeup stuff like at Saks and Nordstrom, usually stuff that is way overpriced, but here you can enjoy the tester version just as well.

The product comes to you new and for the products that don't have covers or caps, they just use a generic plastic cover. Pretty neat, and some of the prices don't seem too affordable probably because the tester version looks alot like the regular version, which I don't seem to mind....as long as it is discounted I'll buy it!

I'm putting the link here.

My Wishlist for Izzy's:

Bobbi Brown Bronze shimmer brick $34.20

Chanel eyeshadows, Jungle, Coconut, Nocturne, Apricot $14.25

Chanel e/s Duo stardust $24

Chanel lipsticks, Russet moon, Orient, Tender $13.50

YSL lipsticks, Red star, nude beige $15.00

and some more stuff but I can't decide just yet because I want everything! lol

Q's and A's: Beauty Reader's Questions

Q: I like using blush but always seem to get the wrong color?

A- Finding the right color of blush is sometimes difficult but in order to find the right color it is always best to try it on, the color in the compact varies from the color on your cheek after it is applied. Also, try to discover your skin's undertone, that will usually create an indicator as to which hue is right for you. Don't be afraid to try on alot of them before really deciding on a hue. You'll know you've chosen the right color when you are amazed and really loving the color on your cheeks.

Q: How do you draw your eyeliner on the top lid so nicely, it's like a pro, what can I do for that perfect line?

A- Everyone can apply liquid eyeliner easily, but the key to getting there is not some secret but instead it's practice. You know what is great too, is that you develop your own technique that works for you. Everyone has their little technique and I feel that you should find yours, and you'll be glad that you did! There were many times that I felt like giving up but actually the more times I practiced, the better I got at it. Applying eyeliner is fun now, I can use a variety of tips, brush, felt, pens, etc. So, practice practice practice, trust me you will see the results I promise! Click here for a fabulous liquid eyeliner application video by the beautiful Michelle Phan.

Q: What moisturizer with SPF do you recommend for oily or combo skin, or any moisturizer without oil?
A- This is a great question because not too long ago I was searching for the exact same thing. Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer Untinted really works for me which can be found at Walgreens and CVS and I believe they cost somewhere between 9.99 to 13.00

Journal Entry

My diet is not going so well! ha ha, I generally have no will-power but lately all the good eats that are suppose to be bad for you have been showing up in front of my face and that's not a good thing. This whole weekend has been somewhat of a calorie fest. This is definitely a test of my will-power and I'm ready to fight it this week and the next upcoming weeks because this is just ridiculous, lol. I know I have gained a few lbs when my lower back starts hurting while sleeping because whenever I go on a diet and lose weight my back doesn't hurt, but as soon as I gain some my back starts hurting. Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying! It's not so much the sweets but it's food that get's me, I love pasta and potatoes, rice and bread, so I really have no will-power when it comes to this food...I know how to grub!
What is the deal with foundations by Chanel, Dior, Origins, Makeup forever, Clinique, and Prescriptives?! I went over the weekend to browse & pick a different foundation just to try something different so I'm not using the same MAC foundie. So I try all these foundie's and none have the correct color of my skintone. I have a very weird skintone, it beige with golden-yello undertones with hints of glowy red.....weird right! I would have thought that even Prescriptives would at least have a match because they are the supposed 'perfect match' people, but no. Makeup forever has more of a pink undertone, which I am not! And Clinique makes you just look too pastie, white-like and grey. So I guess I'm stuck with MAC for now, at least I still have minerals and my Dream Matte mousse that I love. I'm starting to wear bronzer. As a matter of fact I don't really need it because I am tan enough as it is, but this past Saturday I saw a beauty hour on QVC with Bobbi Brown that changed my outlook on bronzer. She had this bronzer that I would have loved to buy but was way out of my price-range, so I decided to do a little research for good quality, high-rated bronzers and found a few to try. I ended up buying the Rimmel Natural face bronzer, which happens to be highly-rated, and a best-seller and is the best for value, Physicians Formula bronzer called bronze boost (fyi: all bronzers by Physicians formula are great), and the MAC natural MSF in deep dark, which is soooo pretty. I will post a blog entry and pics soon. I made a video on bronzing, so check it out if you can. I never really put much thought into bronzing my face since I was tan anyway, but I really like the look of the bronzer when applied correctly and I love to look glowy and tanned and just overall healthy on my face! Loving it! I might even go on a bronzer haul next month :P Everyone have a beautiful day! It's going to thunderstorm over where I'm at!

Holy Grail-Prescriptives Camouflage Cream Concealer

Size: 0.5 oz.

About: The weightless, creamy, formula of Camouflage Cream helps naturally conceal dark circles, blemishes and imperfections. Weightless, creamy formula doesn't crease. Perfect eyeshadow primer.

Price: $17.50 for .5 fluid ounces

product: 5 stars out of 5
packaging: 5 stars out of 5
quality: 5 stars out of 5
overall : 4.5 stars out of 5
would buy again? Yes, of course!
where to buy: at department stores like Macy's, Dillards, Nordstrom and on prescriptives.com

pros: conceals very well, like magic! A little goes a long way, you'll just need a tiny bit for 1 under eye application. Will conceal under eye dark cirlces. Will brighten under eye. Comes in 4 other colors to suit complexion. Is priced under $20.

cons: The only thing I don't like about this is the expiration date and that is 6 months shelf-life which I think is way too short of a time for concealer-and there is alot in the tube and I did pay $17.50! I'm not even going to bother paying attention to the expiration date. I feel as long as you keep the open end of the tube clean and free of bacteria it should last you longer without feeling you have to toss it after the 6 months from date of purchase. My suggestion to keeping the open end clean is to use clean hands to apply or use with a q-tip. (As with all makeup, any change of color or smell does indicate that it needs to be thrown away.)

Overall: I love it! This concealer won't dry out your skin either, it is moisturizing and won't let your skin look scaly.

you might love this if: You have major dark circles under your eyes, have post-acne scarring, have blemishes that you wish to conceal. Love wearing concealer to look flawless!

CCO Haul

Just a mini-one...I had this urge to go to the CCO last weekend and picked up a few things. I was really excited to see the MAC Shadowy lady quad because I had missed out on it when it came out in the collection. So I got that, let me tell you, that quad is so versatile. I'm thinking about going back and buying a few more just to sell them or something.... Really nice colors...I also got 2 brushes, the MAC 129sh, which ended up being a short version of the 129 and it came with this cute little Fafi makeup bag, so nice. And I also got a blending brush #224. I've realized that I could have gotten it at any MAC counter but at the CCO they are much cheaper, I think I paid $19 for it. I also picked up 'Bare' Slimshine because I heard many good things about this lippie. I actually love this color because it isn't too strong, it isn't too bare, it's just right. The perfect nude color. And last but not least, got 2 eyeshadows in Cool Heat and Gulf Stream, 2 beautiful colors that were limited and came out with some sort of collection a while back, and that's it, I'm very happy with my purchases! :D The Urban Decay discount sale they had recently turned out pretty well. I wanted to buy the 24/7 eyeliners but I already had the neutral colors in the travel pack and the only colors I like from the bright color travel pack was the blue, so I'm thinking about just buying that separate some other day. Anyways, from the sale I picked up 3 eyeshadows that are very unique since I don't really have any eyeshadows that match these. But I happened to notice that the eyeshadow Lounge is just like the MAC eyeshadow Club, very nice and the other 2 colors are just gorgeous. Vert being a like a blackened green, but not a pine green more of an apple green with black pearl and Strip is a nice silvery blue jean color, which works perfectly on my skin-tone since my tan is slowly coming back, it's creeping up on me! lol, sooner or later I'll have to switch back over to my MAC NC42 :D I also ended up buying the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Deluxe box, which is oh so nice! I've seen numerous youtube guru's rocking this palette and I've always eyed this palette many times when in Sephora and just never bought it, So I'm really glad I did. Check out Aubrey's youtube tutorial using the UD deluxe here. Comes out beautiful! Also with my UD purchase they gave me a free lippie which is a nice sheer color called Sellout. It's so cute!! I swear it's the same size as of half my pinky :)

...And I've been hauling Milani eyeshadows lately. I recently added more of the Runway eyes to my collection which I love. I already had Silver Charm and Carribbean Blue. I think I'm stil missing like 3 more colors, so I'll have to shop around for those as soon as I can!

Enjoy the pics and talk to you all soon!

  • I don't remember which post it was but I recently said that lately I've been loving cheap drugstore products like foundations, lippies and eyeshadows. Right now I'm loving my Revlon Colorstay foundie which happens to be amazing because it controls the oil in my t-zone, which I love. I've been wearing it since 7 this morning and I've only had to powder my nose once. That's good for my average of blotting in a day is anywhere from 4 times to 6 times. My MAC studio fix fluid doesn't even do that for me, just goes to show that some drugstore brands are better than high-end makeup! What I also love about Maybelline is that they came out with a new formula some time ago for some of their eyeshadows, which is nice because if you've ever tried some of the drugstore shadows most of them don't really have much pigmentation. So these shadows have plenty of pigmentation, and i'm thinking about collecting all of them because they are so pretty! I just wish Milani would bring back the regular single shadows because lately I've been shopping around for those and they seemed to have disappeared....? discontinued perhaps? I'm not sure but those had good potential, and pretty colors.

  • Does anyone have any good suggestions for drugstore mascara? For some reason all the mascaras that I've bought from Covergirl tend to dry out pretty fast and that makes me upset. I mean, I bought the lashblast back in November and by January it was dry and flaky, ew, not good. I've been using the Pro mascara and that dried up as well. I'm walking around my work with tiny little black flakes on my face because it is drying up so bad : ( Anyways, I'm outta options and looking for a good mascara. Maybelline's mascara, to me, tends to be more on the soft side, the Define-a-Lash that I had once was black but looked more of a grey... pigment in the mascara needs improvement. Forget about the new Lash stiletto, when I first bought it I was excited, after opening it I was so taken aback by the smell, it is almost sickening: it's strong. So if you have a sensitive nose and hate for your makeup to smell plasticky & toxic, then don't get Lash Stiletto. I once invested in the MAC Zoomlash because I had used it once before and liked it but for some reason this time, the mascara was way too hard. and it never really volumized them. They felt and looked like sharp needles poking out , totally weird, so off I went to return it. So yeah, mascara shopping is difficult to me sometimes because you never know what it'll do until the end of the day, whether it runs, smears, flakes, dries out, etc. And it doesn't help that my lashes are short and scantilly.
  • What is up with my new lipgloss from MAC from the Hello Kitty Collection, She loves Candy? Lately I've been wearing it and once again smelling that plastic and toxic smell. I know it has to be that because if I wear a lipstick that has a distinct smell like I can always smell the vanilla that MAC is notorious for having in the lipsticks, but for some odd reason this lipglass doesn't smell not even near vanilla :/ I opened it just a few min. ago to smell it and yup, it has that plastickie and toxic smell. weird. I'm thinking about just taking it back to the storeand exchanging for a new dazzleglass or something : )
Everyone have a good day and i'll talk to you all later!

  • I'm in trouble, what am I going to do? I have so many lippies that I'm thinking about returning some to the store, if that is possible. I might have to go in my desk and pull out receipts and match up and go running around all over the city to return them! yikes, why did I have to be such a lipstick-oholic
  • Did anyone happen to grab any of the new MAC Dazzleglasses? For some odd reason youtube guru's and other fellow beauty bloggers were raving about their own purchases from last week when I thought they weren't suppose to debut until the 30th? Hey, where was my memo? I hate being left out...come to find out it was an early release but was quickly taken away just for it to debut again on the 30th...MAC, you are so weird.
  • Me and my husband have decided to try for baby #3. I'm super excited :) But instead of tips on preventing pregnancy I'm trying to GET tips on getting preggers. haha I just think it is funny. I'm hoping for a boy, but in my heart somewhere I want a baby girl :)
  • I'm taking another break from school....*gasp!* I've been going strong since '07. I know it seems weird but lately I've been getting out of work extremely dizzy with headaches that all I want to do is get home and lie down. This happened to me last year and I ended up taking a 2 month break from school. well it happened again, I ended up missing 2 weeks of school, not good, especially since we always have assignments due each week. So for the past 2 months I've been coming home sick and not being physically able to do homework, tests, seminars, etc. But this break should be good, I'm returning in August, hopefully by that time I've figured out what is wrong with me : )
  • That is it guys, stay tuned for more randomness next week, I'm off to work and possibly check out cosmetics stuff online.

Lovely Minty feeling!

laliamora San Antonio, Texas 4/9/2009

4 5

Pros: Glossy Finish, Convenient Container, Moisturizing, True To Color, Even Application

Cons: Weak plumping, Wears Off Easily

Best Uses: Dry Lips, Daytime

Describe Yourself: Trendy Style

When I first tried this gloss out I noticed it was missing something: the actual plumping of the lips. There is a slight difference, very slight plump of the lips, very vague. I just love the color because it is true, vibrant, and unique. Oh yah, & the scent is to die for! Smells like sweet mint flavored dental floss, yummy! Overall I think it is a good lipgloss for daytime use like for running errands or just for those days that more moisture on the lips is needed. I would recommend to others simply becaues of the quality and price. The packaging is wonderful too because it's not too small and not too big either, is also not made of cheap plastic that would break, no...This packaging is very sturdy and nice.

My thoughts on NARS eyeshadows

Ever since my first NARS e/s I've been wanting to get to Sephora to buy more but since these are $22 a pop I wanted to save up and get them. I would say they are a good investment anyways because they are so pretty! I mean, they have great color payoff, highly pigmented, crease-free, and long-lasting. My first NARS e/s was Lola-lola, such a beautiful beige, rust golden color. When I went back to buy more I fell in love with these two.Fathom, Strada

Fathom (left), Strada (right)
Fathom is a beautiful pastel pink, baby pink color with tiny silvery sparkles that go everywhere when putting on your eyelids. I like this color because it is versatile. you can use it on the lid or as a highlight. I'm even thinking about using it as a cheek highlight, but we'll see about that : )

Strada is a very unique color, sub-dued Purple with Gold frost. You can actually see the gold color in the mirror in the above pics. This color is gorgeous! Versatile as well, I can use it either on the lid as a wash of color or in the crease. Blendable and buildable so if you want more of a deeper darker color just add more and it gives it greatly.

You can check out the colors at Sephora.com or you can go to the NARS website also.
:)
Which colors do you like?
